A Brief History and Overview

Established in 2022, The LaVerne S. Dawkins Center of My Joy Family Foundation (The Center of My Joy Family Foundation) commemorates Mrs. LaVerne S. Dawkins, a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who bravely battled frontotemporal dementia for nearly 15 years before her passing on January 3rd, 2021.

Motivated by LaVerne’s courage and inspired by her legacy, we are dedicated to assisting families navigating the challenging journey of frontotemporal dementia. Furthermore, we extend our support to a critical yet often overlooked group – teachers. Paying tribute to LaVerne’s and her siblings’ teaching careers, we are committed to enhancing their work environments, fostering comfort during their demanding days.
